Depends on the focal length.

Wide angle, you will have star trails but not as bad as telephoto.
It's a digital, give it a try and delete the ones that have it.
Remember what works and keep doing it.

You could also try stacking or off-ccd integration to avoid star
trails. I see that with a web cam, you can take long exposures on a
static tripod and avoid star trails.
