Hi Pierre,
I selected the IDAS LPS filter mainly for its color fidelity and
effective light pollution reduction.
I posted yesterday a picture on my website showing result of a 120
sec. exposure taken at ISO1600 with my Canon 300d with and without
LPS filter.
Take a look at: http://pages.infinit.net/sidarap/photos/IDAS.JPG
Those test pictures are unprocessed: only cropped and reduced.
This test was taken at a dark site. Sky fog limit should be much more
quicker from your backyard. You will probably forced to use a LPS
filter + software processing to remove light pollution gradient.
ImagePlus software has some built-in feature to do so. Some people
are using Photoshop to build custom mask to remove efficiently the
sky background.
Good luck!
Marc
