IMHO, Canon 10d is the best camera for astro imaging. Canon 300d come
second.

For Canon 300d:
Pros: very low noise level, lighter than 10d, ram mode (12 bits),
same sensor than 10d, need much less power than other CCD camera,
supported by "DSLR Focus" and soons by ImagePlus software.

Cons: plastic case, no mirror lock up, no standard programmable
remote shutter (only mechanical shutter available), limited white
balance settings compared to Canon 10d.

I personally use and find the Canon 300d more than acceptable for DSO.

I own a Canon 300d. I used only one battery during my last imaging
session at -7C

Yes, you need two parts: 2" camera adapter (threaded for 48mm filter)
+ t-ring
If your scope is a Newton or a Smith-Newton, you should need a 2"
barlow to reach focus
A "IDAS LPS" or "UHC" filter is recommended

2.5 hours. Practical limit is more 10 minutes

For only 100$ more, I find it useful even if quality of lens seems to
be average.

Hope this helps.
