Steve,
As an engineer, I do appreciate perpetual quest for " improved
design".
Some of us here had done spectacular work with CP995 (never
a shred of spectral sensitivity discussion on that camera) And how
can it,spectral sensivity is pointless discussion on cameras that
have IR filter. Nobody is expected to rip opened every camera
they own to remove it.
Many newbies who had arrived at this board because they cannot
afford to buy SBIG cameras. We are all here because of that.
If I am a newbie and read this board when the 10D spectral
sensivity discussion was on, I would think that the 10D is
not suitable for astro work.
The goal of this group should be to use existing technology
to produce something spectacular. Canon is certainly not
going to read this board and change the 10D for astro use.
They can careless.
The 10D came about because the mass wanted it( not because a few
handfull of amateur astronomers requests) So far, I see
that our quest to turn the 10D into a SBIG camera is more
or less destructive (cooling a DSLR with ice...opening it
up) With all that time and money, we might as well buy
a SBIG camera.
I don't want to reprimand people. I just want constructive
posts.
Regards,
John
