John, make sure you set up the Angle Finder C properly. You'll have
already discovered that changing the setting from 1.25x to 2.5x
changes the focus. Here's what I do:
I forego the 1.25x, it's not really helpful anyway.
I set my diopters properly during daylight, you'll have a lot of
trouble doing this at night. First, set you camera's diopter so that
the focus boxes are in tight focus. Then add your angle finder, and
twist its focus until you are in perfect focus. Now, take some tape
and lock down the angle finder's focus at this spot (this is
important, as it's very easy to move the angle finder out of focus
accidentally, especially in the dark). Now, when you focus your
telescope at night, you can be sure that you're not countering an
inexact focus of your viewfinder/angle finder combo.
I use my angle finder C to get very good focus, but also take test
shots either in dslr focus or in the Canon remote software, to make
sure my focus is good and also to make sure my object is where I want
it to be.
