[digital_astro] D100 Images from the McMath Solar Scope at Kitt Peak

This is not a typical solar shot -

It's two snapshots done with my D100 of a two foot image of
the sun projected on a tabletop in the observing room/lab of the
10-story high McMath Solar Scope. On my last couple of visits there I
became friends with one of the solar astronomers and he invited me to
see the sunset in the control room. It was incredible.

The scope followed the setting sun, via its three-mirror heliostat,
right into the distant mountains. It clearly shows the refraction of
sunlight by way of the green ring at the top and the red ring at the
bottom of the image, not to mention the reddened and flattened image.
It's not really the "green flash" but the daily refractive phenomena
that occurs as the sun sets - and, atmospherics permitting, the green
flash itself.
