I have been imaging 2P/Encke for a few weeks now with CCD. On Nov 25
(UT) I was able to see it very faintly in the eyepiece of my C-11 at
64X for the very first time. Up until then, I just had to trust to
the digital setting circles!

My still images, short movie and simulated eyepiece views are at

The comet has seen a lot of press lately but has not quite lived up
to its expectations for brightening. Basically, if you trust your
gotos, just take as long an exposure as you can recognizing that the
comet is moving at 7 arcseconds per minute. Then apply aggressive
Digital Development or your favorite nebulosity-enhancing operator
and see what you've got. It is a really pretty challenging target!

Clear skies,

I know it is a few degrees to the right of Altair and I input the
coordinates into my telescope but cannot find the comet. Can anyone
help or give me tips on photographing comets with a digital still
camera? I have a nikon
