This is kind of an open ended question but for beginners like me, how does
one begin to make processing and aesthetic decisions (vs. more technical
skills such as dark and bias and flat and layerd frames) such as knowing,
above, that the backround should or should not be jet black (why would I not
want backround space to be black?), or teasing out just the right colors of
particular DSOs. I don't see an overwhelming ton of it in the reference
works I've been slogging through -- or I have not gotten to it yet -- so it
must be picked up through experience and by way of the cultural nexus of
astrophotographers (star parties, places like this, etc). Is that right?
I've had a mere 2 sessions so far and I work in isolation for the most part
so I'm trying to figure out how to beat the hit-and-miss learning curve and
how to avoid at-least-overtly dumb questions in places like this. The
resources I've found helpful, other than the FAQs and the getting started
guide here are works by covington and wodaski and the content at
astropix.com. Are there are other written resources that are a "don't miss"
as one steps into this relatively complex hobby?
Regards
Will
