Thanks for pointing that out...I've done it so many times I forgot you
have to hold the button while turning the dial. So, if the 5000 is that
similar to the 995...it only stands to reason that he 5400 might be very
similar.

My new Coolpix 5400 is great but I can't access
manual focus in the P, S, A and M modes. The camera continues to
cycle through the Auto, Infinity, Macro and Timer modes when I press
the AF button in the P, S, A and M modes.
Do you have any ideas on the subject? Have I missed something in the
manual? I've reset defaults, turned the camera off and removed
the battery to no effect.
The way I read the manual is that I should have manual focus in all
modes except in full auto and scene modes. Any thoughts on the
subject are appreciated.
