[NikonCoolPix] 4300 focus

David, I have had this issue with my 5700 as well....usually with mine once I get the picutre on the computer I can see that the focus locked on something other than what I had desire....sometimes on mine it is hard to tell what is really locked in the viewfinder or LCD. Slow manual focus keeps me from using that option. I'm thinking now of upgrading to a digital SLR, but want to try that first to see if they are worth the cash. For now I just use both my coolpix and my film SLR so that if worse comes to worse I can scan my slides in and be reasonably sure they are in focus.

Unpredictably, pictures just don't turn out to be in focus, despite confirmation that the camera has successfully focussed. Can't pinpoint any common factor amongst these disappointing 'failures' (eg landscapes, portraits, auto or manual mode). Can anyone identify with this?
Thanks, David

Maybe its all too simple for the big brains to figure it out. What if the Hokey-Pokey's really what its all about?
