[NikonCoolPix] Re: Coolpix 3100 Flash Options

Another option is a "slave flash". My 880 does not have any way to
control an external flash. However, I was able to get an
inexpensive flash that triggers when the camera's flash triggers,
and it gives out a lot more light. Slave flashes do NOT work with
all CoolPix models, however! I found a review page, but I don't
recall it mentioning the 3100 model. (The page for the slave
reviews is somewhere on this site:
http://www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/DigiCam/ .) I guess it'll cost ya $20
to find out. ;-) The model I got was the Sunpak Digital Flash, but
my understaning is that they have another model that has a swivel
for about the same price. Well, it's a good excuse to visit a
camera store. :-) If you already have a flash, there are other
options; if I were to do it over again, I'd probably go that route,
but at the time, I didn't know what was available.
