What are you doing to focus manually? Do you set the camera
to "infinity"? Do you set the camera to "3x telephoto" or just
leave it at the normal settings?

I've been curious about getting a telephoto, but I don't have a
particular use for it. Wildlife, perhaps the odd sports event as
others have mentioned, but I'm not really sure if it's worth the
bother. There have been a few times where it would have been nice
to have the extra zoom, though.

I am not doing this professionally, so I'm not worried about the
ultimate quality, but want something that works reasonably well.
Does anyone know anything about the Tiffen MegaPlus line? They have
a 2x that is around $70. I'm afraid to get Sima's $30 2x. :-)

I did get the Sima wide angle ($30), and it is not bad for the
price. It probably has more distortion than what you'd get with a
more expensive lens, but I thought it was better than I expected.
I've gotten some decent pics, although I am surprised that it does
not appear to let in as much light as I'd hoped. Perhaps this is
the cost of the extra glass in the way. (I imagine that the
telephotos must be very slow, particularly at 6x!) It's nice to
take pics indoors and fit more into one shot! Perhaps I'd be
shocked if I could compare the Nikon and Sima side-by-side, but as
it is, I'm enjoying it and am getting my $30 worth. :-)
