If you're worried about the bulk of CDs, go to some place like
CompUSA, etc., and some of these stores have CD sleeves. They're
really designed to punch into an album, but they don't have to be.
But now you can stack CDs in a much more compact space. Or, you can
get your CDs with holders that are half-sized, if you want a bit
more protection. So far, I feel like this is LOADS better as far as
space is concerned than my film days! :-) And I'm taking tons more
photos!
I just hope the media stands the test of time.... In another decade
or so, though, we can easily copy them to the next generation of
media with no degradation. :-)

I have used a couple of pens that I purchased (again at CompUSA or a
similar place) that specified that they were for use with CD's. You
can generally find them stocked in the same places as blank CDs. My
only gripe is that they're kinda pricy. I always wonder if they are
the same thing as a regular marker only with a higher price, but out
of paranoia, I use the expensive pen!
