Problem: When I put batteries in my 800 it automatically turns on. The LED
on the top only shows the battery icon. The LCD on the back shows the last
photo. Pressing the quality key will then switch the LCD display to show 9
smaller photos and then cycles through them sequentially. None of the other
buttons do anything except the shutter button which displays photos much
like the play mode.
I was able to transfer the photos to my Mac, which is nice, but the camera
will do nothing except the above.
Requests:
Have any of you had this problem and know how to fix it? If you have had an
800 repaired by Nikon I'd like to know about your experience. Nikon Tech
Support hasn't responded to my e-mails and I haven't been able to wait long
enough to talk to a real person on the phone support line.
Is there any non-Nikon service shop that I could use to get this 800
repaired? I'd appreciate any ideas you may have about this major problem.
