Also, try a digital photography book. They come in a range from
beginner to expert and will explain photography terms such as
aperture, shutter speed, etc., and why you would want to adjust
them. Try one of the "..for Dummies" books; they are usually pretty
good at getting you started. If you want to try one book that has
it all covered, "Complete Digital Photography" seems, well, pretty
complete!
In the meantime, do not worry about the details. Start with the
camera on automatic, and read through the Nikon manual.
