This is the link for software domnloads from Nikon Europe in case you have an older version of the software. When you turn on the camera does the camera scanner wizard come up with a list of options. There should be one there to download pictures using Nikonview. I have used Nikon Capture but not for downloading and not for a while.

My computer detect my Coolpix775 when I connect via USB and I can
access it and move the pictures.
But when I try to use Nikon Capture or Cpix, neither can detect my
camera.
Dial must be in "auto" position or another?
