I am assuming you are using Windows. If not disregard this message.
Nikon Europe has most of the drivers and software for downloading.
Try opening the camera from my computer. It should appear in my computer when you connect it and turn it on. (Some cameras you have to turn the dial to view mode) Also the found new hardware notice should have come up at least once.
If this doen't work try using it on a friends computer. Just to see if the camera or cable may be at fault. Also you should try it on a different USB port
Some people have had trouble using Windows versions prior to Windows 98SE. I think you need Nikonview 3 for that and the drivers. Nikon Europe has a compatability chart somewheres as well.
