First get your focus sharp by pre-focusing on a subject in your target arean and keep the shutter partially depressed. If the 885 has a shutter priority mode I suggest you experiment but don't worry about using too fast a shutter speed. For a real "action" shot you will get more pleasing results by panning with the subject and let the background get the natural motion blur from a somewhat shorter shutter speed. What I mean by this is 1/2000 would probably freeze everything but it would just look like a parked car. At something around 1/60 or 1/125 you should be able to pan with the car, keeping it pretty sharp but you get a really cool effect of the background blur making it look like the car (or whatever) was really moving. After a bit of experimenting and some practice with exactly when you complete the shutter release you will get some real action shots, not frozen parking lot shots. Just my 2 cents.

I use the csm, 2x lense and zoom all the wayout. I do get lucky and get some great shots, but alot are blurry. Is it my timing or is there any other settings I could use plus whatI use now? Wondered about shutter speed etc. Can this be adjustedwhile still letting enough light in so the picture doesn't turn outto dark? any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA.......Mary
