[NikonCoolPix] Re: Best settings for action shots? (coolpix 885)

Mary,

I wish I knew more about the 885 so I could offer more assistance. Sounds
like there are a few other 885 owners that can offer additional assistance.

When using the optional lenses (wide angle and telephoto), the
Wide/Telephoto zoom settings are limited by the programming of the 995.
With the 3x lens, you start about 1/2 way between Wide and Telephoto and can
only move toward Telephoto...I believe this limitation is to avoid vignette
and to allow for proper focus range. Also, with the adapter lens, you need
to keep the LCD turned ON to frame your shots...the viewfinder is blocked by
the adapter lens (don't know if that's a problem with the 885).

Practice makes perfect...and with digital photography, you can simply
throw away those mistakes for FREE. So, as the saying goes, get out there
and play in traffic. In this case, stand on the sidewalk and take pictures
of passing cars trying various settings until you find something that works.

On that polo match shoot, I would estimate about 1/2 of the pictures were
keepers...the rest were either missed-shots (subject partially/completely
out of frame) or blurry (out of focus or too slow a shutter speed selected).
Now, I did save a few of the slightly-blurred images because they showed
motion without being too annoying.

--- In NikonCoolPix@yahoogroups.com, Thanks Forrest. I'll look and see if I
have those opions on my 885. A tripod is out of the question from where I
can stand and takepictures, but I can brace myself and the camera. My next
investmentis gona be that 3x lense! :o)Do you use the zoom along with yours
or not? .........BTW, you havesome great picture there. Mary
