Mary,
On my 995, using the 3x telephoto, I used manual mode and selected shutter
priority with fast shutter speed (1/250 to 1/1000) for action shots. Also,
a tripod helps a lot. See the Polo Match shots at

If you don't have bright sunlight, you may get underexposed pictures.

Subject: [NikonCoolPix] Best settings for action shots? (coolpix 885)
I have had my coolpix 885 for several months now and am still havingproblems
getting good action shots when taking pictures of racecarsmoving on the
track. I use the csm, 2x lense and zoom all the wayout. I do get lucky and
get some great shots, but alot are blurry. Is it my timing or is there any
other settings I could use plus whatI use now? Wondered about shutter speed
etc. Can this be adjustedwhile still letting enough light in so the picture
doesn't turn outto dark? any suggestions would be appreciated.
TIA.......Mary
