I often listen to Halton Police. I keep hearing the dispatcher tell
the officers " I copy your manic" or that's what it sounds like. Does
anyone know what it means?

Actually, it's "man-ack." Short for manual acknowledgement.
You most likely hear this after a call has been dispatched, or back up units
to respond to a call are requested verbally. Responding units have a button
on their mobile work station (computer) in their vehicle that advises
Control that they are responding to the call. This information shows up on
the dispatcher's computer screen. The dispatcher the informs the unit that
they have copied their "man ack. "

Listening to Peel 22 division last night... A sergeant was asking if
any D-units had a Piranha.
Aside from the obvious, anyone know what a Piranha is? New
interrogation technique perhaps? Complete with the 'fricken laser
beams'?
Thanks

Actually, did some searching , and I think a Piranha is a brand of
spike strip. Anyone confirm?

It's a little "tire biter".
http://www.stopstick.com/piranha.html
"Piranha is a compact, easy-to-deploy and very effective tire-
deflation device. It provides added control during operations where
potential for subject flight is anticipated. If anyone attempts to
drive the target vehicle away, the tire deflates in 5 seconds or
less."

What a brilliant idea. One of those things that you get annoyed at not
thinking of first.
Thanks Sylvia. Now back to your regularly scheduled scanner talk.

I was going to do the patrol areas on the TPS map that I did, this
appears to be something that will take me a lot of time. Unfortunately
I don;t have that now. The maps on the website are very hard to
decipher and difficult to read. Additionally, TPS has changed there web
site and the individual divisions no longer have there own websites, so
that source is gone.
Please let me know if you find a good source.
Thanks
Chris

I noticed that someone else is streaming their scanner on shoutcast with 2 listeners. The signal is very bad though :^( . Is this anybody on these list, maybe we can take turns streaming to lighten the load on our machines aslong as they can clean their signal up a bit. Can respond off the list if you like.
