Obviously, he must've seen antenna's on the vehicle otherwise he wouldn't have asked the question.

Btw, this question was asked a few months back in the forum. I remember seeing one of these suburban vehicles in my town not far from Ottawa. Someone mentioned that they handle things like gasoline tax and other things.

Again, yes, frequencies for these folks would be appreciated.

Do those guys even have radios? And if so, how often do they use them?
And then, how often is it anything interesting??

Any other suggestions?

Hi Randy,
Thanks, Obviously I did see the antenna on the vehicle, And your right the
vehicle I have been seeing is a suburban too. I really don't care how
interesting the conversations will be, this is a big part of scanning to
find frequencies and make lists up. I do now remember some one several
months ago saying the same thing about gasoline tax. I also know that they
sit beside the Peace Bridge and pull over transport trucks from time to time
???

I really did not take a good look at the antenna on the vehicle, there were
two officers in the vehicle and I really just walked buy very quickly
tonight I'll take a walk and see what kind of antenna it is, also what did
you search for on the TAFL list, did you search under Ministry, I just did a
search for the frequencies you sent and there are a lot of hits that come up
but not one that says Ministry of Finances, if worse comes to worse the
weather is going to be in the 50's to 60's starting Saturday so maybe I'll
just take my Opto Scout around the corner and see if I can get the frequency
that way ??

    Ron? Where are you?
Anyway, enough with the Ron joke... If the OPP uses these codes, what are
they based on? Generally all of the different code systems in use
originated somewhere, and have been perpetuated by various jurisdictions.
The infamous 10 codes are a well known example of this. So where did this
OPP code system originate, and does anyone else in the world use this same
system? What does the OPP do when a 'new' crime is defined? Do they modify
the code or add to it? If so, is there any 'official' source for the code?

Subject: Gov't Radio Trunking Question
Ok, I have a question about this system.
If I know, (I'll use the Cambellford area as an example) that 141.42 and
142.665 are both control ch's, and (seeing as none listed yet) example,
141.195, and 141.39 are not control ch's but instead voice ch's, am I able
to still properly listen to the system, without putting the ctrl ch's in the
radio, and just listen to any analogue radio action, without knowing who
all the users are?
I know this wouldn't last long, untill all the system is implemented, but
when it does start, I still wanna be able to listen to any of the analogue
users on the system.
Much to the same was as the Ottawa EDACS system, I used to listen to.
I didn't have a trunking scanner, but as long as I had the voice ch's in the
radio, I could still hear all the radio traffic (minus the digital), just
not knowing who it was, unless I listened close enough.
For the most part, the first part of the system will be MTO and MOH, so I'm
not worried about hearing any digital sounds other than just the ctrl ch's.
Which I can always lock out.
And if it means anything, earlier this morning I heard a nice loud ctrl. ch.
on 142.41 here in Renfrew don't know if it's related around here, but I
heard it. (And I know it's not the Hydro-Quebec.
Randy
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ScanRenfrewCounty
I'm sure once I'm finally able to upgrade and afford a digital scanner, that
technology will be moving upwards to a new direction and on it's way out.
I'm only now getting a radio with PL Tone capabilities. :S I guess I should
atleast save for a radio with VHF Motorola Trunking. Any suggestions on any
that could be relativly cheap, around $200

I remember, many moons ago, when people actually *helped* each other
out with frequencies and so forth on this list. Now its become nothing
but people telling each other to look it up for themselves.
I already helped Ironside out off of the list, but just in case anyone
else wants some FREQUENCIES, here they are. If they offend anyone, then
you get no apology from me. After all, that is what I assumed the
purpose of this list is. Who cares if its been posted here before???!

Randy,
The voice channels should be scannable for analog groups. Astro
voice channels have a 1s carrier transmitted once a minute (per
channel), which would lock up the scan so best to turn "delay"
off.

Have you tried T4win yet (disc tap required, but no slicer). Or
just try speaker jack audio and fiddle with the volume control to see
if you can get a system ID.

A little off topic....I was awhile ago told they stop trucks and dip the tanks
to check the fuel to make sure its diesel and not some other fuel
oil...something to do with diesel or the other fuel oil being a different
color....if they run with the other fuel oil then they aren't paying the fuel
taxes....
