Lakeshore west Go transit bus routes?
411.5625 ?

I heard plenty of activity on the other frequencies, mainly for
Brampton, Miss and York Region

I take Go transit 4 times a week and when I dont the Go busses are
pretty good at pointing out traffic tie ups;

Any help is mucho appreciated

Eric

I haven't heard anything on 411.5625 for years! It used to be quite busy
with routes north of Toronto.

Other than City TV does any media outlet use radio anymore? In the
world of cell phones and palm pilots I guess it doesnt make sense
but.. if the net went down then t he radios could come into
importance.
Does anyone monitor any of the frequs? I see many listed on various
websites and in books but they are never active.
Anyone have a list?
Eric

In addition to their conventional UHF repeater, CITY
uses a trunking system. So does Ch 9 (although they
still have the VHF repeater as far as I know). Global
uses MIKE radios so you can't hear them. They used to
do a talkback to the helicopter camera operator on
their UHF frequency but I havnt listend to it for over
a year so i'm not sure they still do it that way. I
have no idea what the CBC uses. As for Radio, 680 News
has their VHF repeater but its used almost totally for
traffic but it could be a backup if cell phones go
down. Having worked there, I can tell you that 99% of
the news comm's are done on cellular. Chum also has
the VHF for airplane traffic. Last time they used that
for news was in the downtown race riots over 10 years
ago. CFRB has a rather complex radio system. Having
worked there as well, I can tell you that they have a
VHF system for airplane traffic (and in the past, it
was used for the summer water / boating reports), and
a UHF system with mobile repeaters in the news
vehicles for NEWS. However, these days, they too use
cellular almost 99% of the time for news. CFRB also
has a sat. truck and can do a sat. link to the studio
if they are out of range of the UHF link radio (which
is separate from the UHF news two way freq). CIUT the
U of T station also had a news freq in the UHF band
but as far as I know, they never could get the $$$'s
together to put in the equipment. Bottom line is,
radios are more complicated for news people to figure
out so they tend to just go with cell. Too bad as the
radios often sounded alot better on air than cell. The
freq's for all these are listed in the haruteq and
other places and they have not changed for years so
they are correct...they're just not used much. If you
want more specifics on any of the individual systems,
email me offline and I'll explain in more detail how
they work...

I can't remember the last time CHUM had an aircraft.
CFTO uses MIKE and Fleetcom.
