Was hearing it late Friday night (I'm 1/2 way between London and Sarnia) with a
weak signal. Couldn't detect either CTSS or DCS on the signal. Definately OPP.

Subject: Renfrew Co. Fire 414.250
I confirmed last nite that 414.250 is used by both dispatch and the vehicles
for fire comm's. And I can hear them pretty much from across the southern
portion of the county. How I know this is because I heard 9612 and that
truck is in Arnprior. And I know I can't hear them on the VHF Simulcast O/S
Ch. which is 155.250 for the County.
This freq. you can hear both sides unfortunatley it has a carrier tone on it
and I don't know what it is. I would love to have this in the radio full
time so I can hear the trucks all over. With out have to switch around ch's
all the time, or even having to listen to the carrier tone.
Can or would anyone be able to find out for me what the pl tone would be for
this freq. I don't have my new BC760 XLT yet either to check this out with
either.
Thanks,
Randy

I have already quoted the RCA for them, they believe that is only applicable for peosonal use. My question is this: does anyone out there in the news industry know the laws clearly enough to explain them to them (via me). I know that by listening to the inputs you can get a rough distance, but traffic is so spoardic (sp?). If I listen to the inputs on the CC will I get a constant ping every few seconds or so, like my cell phone puts out? They only transmit when they need to. If they transmitted every couple of seconds, you'd be killing your battery pretty quick. OPP radios do the same. They only transmit on the control channel when they switch sites, make a call or send a status message. You'll have a pretty slow drive though. Braking for every MTO vehicle, OPP car, MOH vehicle, Bell Mobility van etc will probably keep you travelling the speed limit 100% of the time. -- Steve <sdjones@isys.ca> ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 7 Date: Tue, 25 Feb 2003 21:02:09 -0500 From: "John H" <sudsyjkh@softhome.net> Subject: Re: news laws The best advice I can offer you Ian is: 1. tell them not to go to the seen of any action and take evedance for there own use. 2. Tell them not to report a death from homaside or accident or anything untill an official press release is made [I alwayse call the newsroom here and tell them whenever there is a death, but they say they can't announce it untill there is an official announcement] besides that...nothing really, but hell it's a university radio station!! let them be kids.lol:) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ian Howes" <ian_howes@hotmail.com> To: <Scanont@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 25, 2003 8:56 PM Subject: [Scanont] news laws > > I just donated my old pro-66 radio to my university paper's newsroom, they > are worried about the legalities behind it and would like some advice. > I have already quoted the RCA for them, they believe that is only applicable > for peosonal use. > My question is this: does anyone out there in the news industry know the > laws clearly enough to explain them to them (via me). > > Thanks, > Ian > > > > > > _________________________________________________________________ > Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online > http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 > > > Looking for trunked radio information? > Try http://www.trunkedradio.net. > > > Your use of Yahoo! As well, for people who monitor the Peel system has anyone thought about "XJK-706"? I disagree with this, as I've seen other plates that are all numbers as well - so I KNOW they can be issued. I guess it just depends on where you go. Hm. I distinctly remember seeing an MTX9000 feeding the mic jack on a Dell laptop at a certain scannerhead gathering. Monitoring system 1F20; 28 RF channels, 5000+ subscriber units, no problemo. ...Andy ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Your use of Yahoo!
