Hey guys. Not sure if my first message went through or not.

I'm looking for an application similar to Trunking, except one that runs
through the sound-card, not requiring a data slicer to be built. I know
of at least 2 programs that exist like this, but I just cannot find them
for the life of me. Any help would be great :) Thanks!

I think you mean Trunker... and I must also add that you are obviously intensely jealous of my new Trunker setup, and your lack thereof.

To you I say this, SUFFER. Although you are welcome to come over and look at it anytime you want. (evil grin)

Seriously, I've never seen such a program - I would assume that a soundcard-based system would be ill-equipped to handle the amount of data that a trunk-system monitor would need, although I could be wrong.

Look on www.trunkedradio.net for a program called t4win.

I'd consider it a beta program with lots of improvements needed before its ready for primetime.

Currently there's no scanner control but believe you can annotate groups and radio ids.

I don't think it handles status bits correctly either. That's curently developed.

Does anyone happen to have live scanner broadcast comm's from this area.
The full press release is here
http://www.newswire.ca/releases/February2003/21/c2756.html

The only comm's I know of close to there is the Belleville scanner online.

And from listening to this, I believe you'll here it all here.

Where did this one come from? MOH isn't even on the new system yet.

Subject: [Scanont] Call to Members! Contribution encouraged!
  Hi all Scanont members ...
I'm asking everyone to spend a couple minutes to help globally contribute to this forum (not that we typically don't everyday) by helping me out with a favour. I'm looking to compile a list of police frequencies spanning all of Ontario. (If you're outside of Ontario, and you still want to contribute ... your efforts will be appreciated with your submission) TAFL is a wonderful resource, but does not include Police and security agency information. With amalgamation of communities, movement to trunked systems, and just downright outdated hobby resources, finding accurate information in one spot can be difficult. Our group is a wonderful resource for accurate frequency information ... I'd like to see it readily available and thus reducing the amount of repeat freq. requests. (not to discourage ... just to reduce)
I invite everyone to submit their local police and security firm information to me. I'm hoping for a good response, so to reduce the clutter on the list, please reply to brantopp@yahoo.com . Please include the following in your reply:
  Agency
  City/Town/Township/Region
  Frequency (channel # if known)
Activity scale - 0 (never used) - 5 (very busy) ... this will help us determine which frequencies to program when in your area
Your name, and email ... if you'd like credit for your submission. Everyone who contributes will receive credit.
  Any comments, suggestions for monitoring.
If your police services are on a trunked system ... (not sure how this will work but try it anyway)
  System ID and Type
  City/Town/Township/Region
  Talkgroup (channel # if known)
Activity scale - 0 (never used) - 5 (very busy) ... this will help us determine which frequencies to program when in your area
Your name, and email ... if you'd like credit for your submission. Everyone who contributes will receive credit.
Once I start getting some data, I will present the file for us all in the file section of the group.
If this works, it may be fun to do this for Fire, ambulance etc.
  Rob

How far east is the system operational? I have looked up some of the
posted info, is this the most easternly tower?
038 Pontypool 141.7050* 142.4250 142.5900* 142.8900 143.0550
I visit Mosport for MC races, I will try it there this summer.
Would like to test my BCi25D card.
822f is the sytems ID here in the east, from my location I can pick
up 3 different data channels, no voice as yet. Will continue to
monitor it with trunker.
Cheers
Terry

Question for the Trunker people out there..
Peel police works fine, but if I try to monitor Toronto Police, Trunker
crashes and I get a "Bad Group Designation Entry".
I don't need to totally wipe out my files and start from scratch, do
I??

Trunker should show you the actual group entry in your 3c08grp.txt file that's crashing it.
Edit or remove that entry to fix it.

Hi Bryan,
Sometimes all you have to do is delete the "1234*.txt" files that get
generated before Trunker finds a signal. If you have any, other than
1234page.txt, that may be the problem.

Found the problem.
no HD on my laptop, so I'm running trunker from a floppy... disk got
full, and only part of a record in the group file got written.. :)
Thakns Sylvia and Steve!
