Hi Ash,

It's a shame they won't make exceptions, even for an additional fee (has anyone asked?). For example, I needed a hard-to-get IC a few years ago for a project I just had to complete. I contacted the firm who marketed the IC and they informed me it could only be purchased in 50 quantities or more. I asked by phone if there was any way an exception could be made and, to my surprise, they said yes- for an additional $50 beyond the price of the $20 IC. Because I needed the IC so badly, I couldn't say yes fast enough and the IC arrived in a week. I don't know if Sony would do this, but might be worth a try. Of course, they simply might not be interested.

These delays have me considering the SX HX-916 more and more :).

BTW, you have a nice site. I visited it even before joining this group and there is a lot of important and useful info.

Eric

Hi Eric,

Sony will and does sell 424's to the US. It's just the distributors they sell to (such as Bell) won't retail single pieces or small batches to us hobbiests, preferring instead minimum orders in the thousands. And Sony itself has no interest in selling individual pieces either. Grrrr, no?

 Clear skies!

Just out of curiosity, I wonder why Sony won't sell this within the US? One can certainly buy just about any other Sony product here!
