Thanks Ralph,
What did you do about the green light?

Subject: [QCUIAG] Re: Quickcam Pro 4000 Mod
<p> Pete,
I didn't experience any pitfalls; the 4000 has exactly the same
vertical driver chip (the CXD) and the same DSP chip (the SAA) as the
3000. I used the HEF4066BP Quad analog switch, which has the same
pinout as the 4016.
I used Pratley Quickset Steel instead of hotglue - this turned out to
be an elegant solution. I was a bit worried about it conducting, so I
kept the glue to the minimum. I also made use of the university
microscope which made the task a lot easier. Also, try leaving the
lens of the webcam on - much easier to prevent dust on the CCD in
this way than by taping something across the surface.
I built the control circuit onto a standard PCB that fitted neatly
inside the original case behind the screw. Photos will follow -I must
just get my hands on another camera!
Next step is to disable the amplifier during exposure. If anyone
could give me some guidelines as to the best way to do this I'd be
grateful.
Ralph
