Tonight was clear here again, so I carried out some tests on some familiar objects. The moon was pretty bright, and as Gene pointed out flat-fielding is going to be necessary. The image of the Mice (new to me) was horribly un-flat and I am suspicious that there is a light leak as well as vignetting. Not surprising really as the cables are clamped by the box lid ;^) images were captured, calibrated and stretched in K3CCDTools. No other processing, apart from the soft-focus filter over the CCD window......

On M101 you can see some of the banding that I need to sort out.

Cheers

Greg
