No probs - I reckon David Taylors site is especially interesting - and not
just APT either.

I'd be interested to find out if/how you eventually solve your interference
prob.

To be honest with you I kinda gave up with APT when I discovered that you
can download HRTP data from NOAA free of charge. Brilliant pictures etc -
MUCH better resolution than APT - and takes the guesswork out of the sat
comms (of course it also takes you away from your PCR1000 hobby so perhaps
thats not so smart). It does give you lots of scope to play with decoding
progs in the knowledge that the underlying data is worth decoding though !

The downside is that files are 10+Mb and I've recently moved house to a
place where broadband will never reach. At 28k over landline its painful.
I'm currently putting all my effort into extending broadband out here by
wireless, to make downloads like this possible. Thats fun too !!

btw: Have you had the audio/packet discussion yet ? For weather sat work
on NFM always use packet o/p (you've probably found that out already). I
modified a PCR100 to get a discriminator tap just for that reason and the
difference was incredible. The audio stages really screw the modulated
audio. I guess in terms of numbers it might be the equiv of 10db aerial
gain (almost certainly more than you would gain from recovering feeder loss
and for much less effort !). Another way to look at it is the increase in
range that you would get. However, if you're battling against adjacent
channel interference this probably won't make any difference, but its worth
a try.

Good luck
Brian
