Hi Johnny,

That turned out real nice!!! Kind of makes up for the doubles
frustration. We'll just have to keep trying on the doubles.

Thanks Ginger...and yes it kinda made up for the double frustration.
I wish I had known that the seeing was as good as it was, I would
have taken more shots. I only took 150+ and Registax lined up 110 of
them and they all looked pretty decent. I then tried to find Uranus
but ended up with that same DSO I got before, I think it is the
Saturn Nebula from what I can tell from Starry Night. I need to move
my setup to a location where I can see Mars and the doubles I am
trying to shoot. My focus was way off and from where I can see Mars
to focus I couldn't see the doubles. GRRRRRRR! I am going to scout
out the yard and find a place where I can focus on Mars and still see
most everything else. I love trees most of the time until they block
my view.

How did you caputure 110 pics of mars with the nikon 4500? Does the
4500 act as a web cam? Over what time period? 8 minutes?

What were your skies like? What part of the country do you image
from?

This is a good image.

Dave,

Thanks for the comments on my Mars shot.

Using the remote with the CP4500 you can take as many pictures as
the buffer of the camera will allow. I can take 85 shots holding the
shutter button on the remote and with the camera set for continuos
shots. As soon as the buffer clears, I can take another 85 shots. I
usually take 50 and wait and take 50 more. The buffer takes as long
as it takes to take the shots to clear. So, If I took 60 shots, it
would take about a minute and then a minute wait on the buffer to
clear. In 8 minutes I can take 400 shots, 100 every 2 minutes. Search
through the archives for my Mars pictures or you can see all my best
ones on my website www.mindspring.com/~johnnyperk .

I live out in the boonies near Richmond, Va. The skies are pretty
much on the dark side. I can see the Milky Way when it is really
clear but that doesn't happen all the time.

                   Thanks again,
                    Johnny
