Being an ex-photographer I swayed the CANON way. (not a plug) at the moment
I am selling a EOS 1N. But my heart still lies in CANON. Years ago the
choice was either Canon or Nikon.
Seems today in astro-imaging the choices are a little broader. I know the
10D 60D are HOT! and the NIKON¹s are too.
So a dillema so to say is this: obvious practical duality you get in a
camera body (photos and astro-imaging) tells me to go CANON keep a lens or
two.
However as I don¹t have the need for high end still photo aspect anymore,
the duality lessens in weight and I can lean more towards a single purpose
Astro-imaging cam, IE the SBIG or the like.
So I ask this question given some of the above ideas: are there astro-cams
that perform close to the quality of the camera bodies at the camera body
price range?
Seems the camera bodies are pretty hard to beat for the quality/price and
the duality.
The SBIGS seem just a tad too high, so I figure there must be a astro-imager
that has the price closer the camera bodies.
Thanks a lot

Well, unlike you, I've always been an Olympus fan. I like the design
philosophy of compactness and lightweight. So I am holding out to
see what the bottom line will be in the new Olympus E-1 system. As
to astro-imagers, I find SBIG bulky, overweight, and too costly. I
think the Starlight Express camera's are closer to the truth in the
cooled CCD arena ...
