Do you have the security "dongle" installed at the PC end? I had the same
problem, it ws missing from the package and Icom said they couid not help
me and Bonita wanted 100.00 for it.

I solved my problem by using the Bonita CD as a Frisbee for my little dog
and downloaded the Icom software from the Icom home page and it works
great.

The receiver works so great that I am going to sell my R 71A and FRG 9600
receivers. Just don't use them anymore.

The security box needs to be plugged into the serial port, and the radio
connected and switched on.
The serial port really needs to be a "standard" one. The latency issues with
USB serial ports means that they seldom work with Radiocom 4, nor do smart 4
or 8 way serial port cards if you are using one of them.
Also, when the software is first installed, you need to ensure that you
select the correct receiver type.
On start-up the software scans COM ports 1 to 8 for the security box, and
when found it sends an initialisation string to the receiver, which then
replies. If any of these fail then the receiver not found message replies.

You should get support on this from ICOM, as their deal with Bonito is that
ICOM would handle all customer support issues.
